Le fugitif Dominic Toretto vit clandestinement en République dominicaine. Avec sa petite amie Letty et deux comparses, ils se lancent dans un dernier gros coup : voler un convoi d'essence. Peu de temps après, des circonstances tragiques poussent Dominic à retourner à Los Angeles, où il va devoir s'allier à son vieil ennemi, l'agent du FBI Brian O'Conner, pour faire tomber un trafiquant de drogues.
