The Semonian Collection | Boxford, Massachusetts | ODA
Houshamadyan’s newest featured collection belongs to a dynasty that hails from Kharpert/Harput, and whose members migrated to the United States in the late 19th century. The page focuses on the two main branches of this dynasty – the Simonians/Simonians (from the city of Kharpert) and the Nahigians (from the town of Hussenig).
It was David D’Apice, a descendent of the dynasty, who collected these materials and wrote the history of his ancestors. He has become the guardian and the heir of their historical legacy. Thanks to his investigative work and the interviews he conducted with his surviving relations, we are able to present to our readers a short history of the Semonian and Nahigian families, stretching from their days in Kharpert to their life in the United States.
The page also features a rich trove of photographs from Kharpert, as well as the photographs of several tangible objects that members of the Semonian family were able to bring with them to the United States.
