Alexis Pazoumian (1988) is a French-Armenian Photographer and Director based in Paris, graduated from a graphic school in 2012. He practices social documentary, focusing on communities living on the margins of society. From Armenia to the US, and more recently Siberia, the notions of humanity, identity, society are at the heart of his work. His photos have been shown in group shows internationally – Los Angeles, Bratislava, Paris, Lyon, Kuala Lumpur, Melbourne, Vancouver, and Zurich. Alexis Pazoumian has been finalist Paris Match Emerging Talent Awards, Life Framer, Foto filmic, Lucie Foundation, Off Festival of Bratislava. Alexis was featured in numerous publications worldwide including National Géographic, Der Spiegel, Vanity Fair, Télérama, Grazia, Vogue, NZZ and Libération. In 2018 he published his first book « Faubourg Treme », André Frère Editions, about his long term project in New Orleans. This book is now sold in many institutions around the world like the Tate Modern in London, Beaubourg Museum in Paris, McNally Jackson in New York. The same year, he produced a Tv advertisement internationally for Action Against Hunger and his first short film « Mineur », a finalist at the Nikon film festival. His new book « Sacha », André Frère Editions will be released in bookstores in February 2020 in France, England, United States.
