The fifth installment of the ARMENIA AND AZERBAIJAN AT WAR series explores Road(s) to Peace in Karabakh. How to get to peace after weeks of unimaginable violence in deeds and words? Is remedial secession possible without the backing of major powers? Were negotiations ever hopeful?
"Unable to Write" by Ruben Malayan
Salpi Ghazarian, director of the USC Institute of Armenian Studies, will lead the conversation with special guests including a former Minsk Group co-chair, an American diplomat who addressed war crimes, and a legal scholar who will offer global context. Emil Sanamyan, editor of Institute’s Focus on Karabakh portal will offer insights into the current situation.
Even as this series of conversations ends, the Institute will continue to focus on Karabakh. New and familiar Voices on Karabakh will be continuously invited to contribute to War: A Symposium of Thoughts. Each submission reflects the author’s thoughts in the moment.
Established in 2005, the USC Institute of Armenian Studies supports multidisciplinary scholarship to re-define, explore and study the complex issues that make up the contemporary Armenian experience – from post-Genocide to the developing Republic of Armenia to the evolving Diaspora. The Institute encourages research, publications and public service, and promotes links among the global academic and Armenian communities.
