The Armenian people are living very challenging and painful days right now. We lost a difficult battle against nefarious opponents, but we have not lost the war our ancestors fought before us—the war for our right to live peacefully and prosper on our native lands.
The destiny of the Armenian homeland, and of future generations of Armenians, rests in each and every one of our hands. Regardless of your profession or skills, regardless of where you find yourself physically on the earth, now is the time to commit to Armenia and work united as one people to build a better, stronger homeland. While doing so, we must also commit to upholding the values of transparency, collaboration and trust. Strategic and sustainable investments today mean a brighter future for Armenia tomorrow.
In 44 days, you raised over $5 million for ArmeniaFund, Armenian Wounded Heroes Fund, and to support refugees from Artsakh displaced by the war – a project we’re working to launch as early as next week. You did it creatively, tenaciously and united as one global family. In addition to launching new, transparent projects with vetted partners on the ground here in Armenia to support those in need, we will be going back to track every single dollar you raised during the war, and reporting on where and how those funds are being used. Radical transparency has been our guiding value since we began operating in 2012. We are working with ArmeniaFund and Armenian Wounded Heroes on reviewing expenditures, generating content to share the impact of their work and reporting back to you.
The human, material and emotional toll this war has had on our people is immeasurable; our work to heal and rebuild is just beginning, and the road that lies ahead will be difficult. But it is also an opportunity to do what we’ve done since the start of the war more ferociously and more united than ever before, so that justice and peace prevail in the end. As Charents said, our salvation lies in the power of our unity.
The Armenian spirit is resilient and defiant. This is not the end. It is the beginning.
