Gate to Heaven : Deutsche Welle fait un court documentaire sur Jivan Avetisyan

Deutsche Welle – a German Broadcast and a Berlinale Talent partner. Every year, Deutsche Welle’s trainees create portraits in short video form of participants of Berlinale Talents.

Our very own Jivan Avetisyan, a Berlinale Talent himself, was selected by the editors of Deutsche Welle as one of the 17 talents where the team created a short documentary of his work, ideas, and current projects. Jivan chose the Berlin Wall and the National Cinema Center of Armenia pavilion as his two locations for his portraits as both are symbolic to him and to all Armenians around the globe including the people of Artsakh!

The Berlin Wall was a guarded concrete barrier that physically and ideologically divided Berlin for nearly 30 years. Once destroyed, a sign of the fall of communism, it unified the Germans and Europeans in general but on the contrary the most brutal conflict in the Caucuses began between Artsakh Republic and Azerbaijan.

Jivan also chose the Armenian National Cinema Center of Armenia pavilion as his second choice of location as the Center for the first time participated in the Berlin International Film Festival. This was a great opportunity to showcase Armenian Cinema with one of the most prominent Broadcasting company in the world.
