Euronest Parliamentary Assembly praises the peaceful transition of power in Armenia

The EAFJD staff attended the 7th Ordinary Session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly which took place in the European Parliament in Brussels from the 25th to the 27th of June. During the session, the peaceful transition of power in Armenia was highly praised. On the contrary, harsh words were pronounced regarding the human rights situation in Azerbaijan.
The Euronest Parliamentary Assembly adopted a resolution where it continued embracing the general EU position concerning the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, that is peaceful settlement of the conflict based on international law and the Basic Principles of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs ( the peoples’ right for self-determination, territorial integrity and non-use of violence) . The ARF and S&D fractions members met in Strasbourg
|

On July 2, the EAFJD team headed by President Karampetian participated in a meeting between a delegation from the Armenian Revolutionary Federation and the S&D Group in the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
The participants discussed the situation in Armenia after the peaceful transition of power, the threats of war from the Azerbaijani side, the rights of the people of Artsakh and the future cooperation between the two parties.

No changes expected in Turkey after Erdogan's re-election.

In an interview to the Public Radio of Armenia, EAFJD communication officer Harout Chirinian said that considering the results of the Turkish presidential and parliamentary elections, he didn't expect any changes in Turkey's official position on the Genocide recognition and reparations process.
"Regarding the relations between Armenia and Turkey, today the EU says the exact same thing as the EAFJD. The establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries should be done without any preconditions, especially concerning the Nagorno Karabakh conflict," added Chirinian. EAFJD President Kaspar Karampetian’s interview to Armenpress

Prime Minister Pashinyan in Brussels

On July 11 and 12, the Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan participated in the NATO summit in Brussels. He also met a number of the European leaders, such as Donald Tusk – President of the Council of the European Union, Federica Mogherini – the Vice President of the European Commission and High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy (VP/RH) and Emmanuel Macron – President of the French Republic, etc…
On the occasion of the first official visit of the Armenian PM to Brussels, the Armenian flag was raised in the front of the Berlaymont building which houses the headquarters of the European Commission.
